Writing

Writing in fifth grade is all about controlling your craft.  Writers at this level, use the power of words, structure, and planning to control the message and meaning of their writing.  They learn how meaningful writing isn't always about quantity, but the quality on the page.  Fifth grade writers are introduced to new genres such as memoir, feature article, argument essay, and fantasy.  The true testament of their writing ability lies in transferring what they know from previous years to new formats, for a greater variety of audiences.
