NF Text Structure Webquest
Before You Begin (60 minutes)
1. In pairs, get to know one or two informational articles, linked below.
(Only one computer per partnership is needed.)
Answer both question for each article you read. The Text Structures chart may help.
-
How does the author organize information?
-
What is the author trying to teach me?
-
-
How do non-fiction text structures help me understand the information?
-
Can you find all five of the different text structures to investigate?
-
You will want to record your ideas in your reader's notebook.
Stop: Time for a Teacher Check-in and Share
2. After the check-in, decide on partner roles, posted at the bottom of the page. Who will be best for each job?
Once you have decided, your teacher will give you your materials. Then it is time for your Webquest process to begin.
Partner Roles
Sleuths discover the purpose of the text structure.
They answer the questions:
Why did the author choose this structure?
